Redis Labs Enterprise Cluster (RLEC)
Redis Labs Enterprise Cluster (RLEC) runs in containers, and more specifically in Docker containers. When run in a container, each container acts as an RLEC node that can host multiple Redis shards (processes). By doing so you can overcome the inherent one-to-one relationship between containers and Redis processes, and create as many Redis databases as needed, without having to add additional containers to your infrastructure.
You can also join multiple containers, each acting as an RLEC node, to create an RLEC cluster with which to achieve the advantages of seamless scalability and true high-availability.
In this deployment model you can achieve:
- A pure single tenant environment, by limiting the number of shards (processes) created in a single node/container
- A multi-tenant environment, by creating multiple shards (processes) in a single node/container
- A scalable and highly-available environment, by joining multiple nodes/containers into a cluster
RLEC will alert you if your cluster needs more resources to scale due to shortage in processing power or memory.
