Garantia Data Delivers Enterprise-Class Memcached Cloud Solution to Heroku, AppFog and AppHarbor Platforms

Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) Developers Gain Top Performance via Failure-Proof Caching within Existing Memcached Protocols

SANTA CLARA, Calif., December 18, 2013

Garantia Data, the leader in enterprise-class Redis and Memcached solutions for developers, today announced the general availability of its Memcached Cloud fail-safe caching solution for the HerokuAppFog and AppHarbor platforms.

Previously in beta with early adopters, the new Memcached Cloud add-ons will enable the hundreds of thousands of developers who run their applications on these platforms to instantly super-charge their caching engines with true high availability, top performance and infinite scalability.

Memcached is an open source memory caching system used by many enterprises and startup developers to improve application performance. Garantia Data’s Memcached Cloud is a fully-managed service for running Memcached reliably, without failure, by constantly replicating datasets. Powered by Garantia Data’s dynamic clustering technology, these PaaS add-ons give developers a painless way to prevent the issues that often occur with Memcached node failures, process restarts, upgrades or scaling.

“Today’s application users expect to be delighted at every turn, so for a developer, problems like data loss, slow performance or application crashes can be disastrous. That’s why we’ve brought a fresh approach to Memcached,” said Ofer Bengal, CEO of Garantia Data. “With our Memcached Cloud solution, developers no longer have to stress about availability or performance degradation from losing a Memcached node. Our service is the only one to guarantee always-on, fail-safe caching without any compromises, and we’re glad to offer it to more developers on the hottest PaaS platforms.” With Garantia Data’s PaaS add-ons, Memcached users can benefit from Redis technology without having to undergo the expensive, time-consuming process of replacing Memcached with Redis themselves. In seconds, they can set up Memcached Cloud and leverage in-memory replication capabilities, auto-switchover and persistent storage, all with no management requirements. The service completely frees developers from dealing with nodes, clusters, server lists, scaling and failure recovery, while guaranteeing absolutely no data loss. “Our app hums along very nicely with Memcached Cloud under the hood,” said Gady Pitaru, CTO and co-founder of BadgerMaps, a Heroku customer. “Garantia Data’s solution gives us the performance and high availability that we need to provide excellent service to our customers without breaking the budget.”

Garantia Data’s Memcached Cloud add-ons are now generally available with several plan options for users on the Heroku, AppFog and AppHarbor platforms. The free beta version will be discontinued on January 17, 2014, and previous users should visit their PaaS provider’s add-on pages for transition and pricing details.
