Rent Dynamics is a lead management software company providing resources and services to multifamily communities. In recent years, Rent Dynamics’ customer base has experienced some rapid growth — and when the company hit a monthly client rate of 100,000 callers, it was confronted with a problem. With so many monthly contacts trying to access its services, Rent Dynamics found that it was no longer able to maintain accurate, live queues of prioritized workflows for its contact center during peak usage times. That’s when Rent Dynamics stumbled across Redis Enterprise.
Rent Dynamics’ Requirements
In order to efficiently tackle customer inquiries, Rent Dynamics has a contact center where calls and emails are filtered into the appropriate work queues. As Rent Dynamics’ client base continued to grow, however, its SQL Server was no longer able to filter these inquiries on its own. Skyler Cain, a software development manager at Rent Dynamics, tells Redis that this obstacle prompted his company to seek a new mechanism to sustain real-time workflows.
“As a contact center whose reputation revolves around promptly responding to all incoming inquiries, we simply couldn’t afford to have our system slow or fail in the face of high user volumes,” Cain says.
Redis Enterprise Benefits
Redis Enterprise was the cost-effective solution that Rent Dynamics needed. With Redis Enterprise’s high-performing Sorted Set and Hash data structures managing its work queues, Rent Dynamics has been able to reduce the load on its database to unfailingly meet the demands of its 100,000 monthly callers. Redis Enterprise’s auto-failover and backup features have also been invaluable to Rent Dynamics, especially after the company lost some data while using Amazon ElastiCache. Redis Enterprise’s Cluster Manager, meanwhile, helps Rent Dynamics stay organized and track company stats in real time.
Rent Dynamics currently uses Redis Enterprise to optimize work queues for its lead management and contact center operations, but that is just the beginning. The company may one day utilize Redis Enterprise as its primary database, and rely on it for everything from additional work queues to regular day-to-day tasks. And thanks to Redis Enterprise, Rent Dynamics is once again able to track how many outstanding work items a user needs to address, a capability that Rent Dynamics temporarily lost due to the rapid growth of its customer base.
“The expertise of the Redis Labs team really opened my eyes to the possibilities,” Cain says.
For now, Rent Dynamics runs Redis Enterprise and the rest of its stack in AWS, and is in the process of transitioning to microservices to ensure consistently high performance. Redis Enterprise operates seamlessly alongside Rent Dynamics’ SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases; the other servers are able to offload high contact volumes onto Redis, enabling Rent Dynamics to focus on real-time activity and prioritize more urgent inquiries.
