With Modules, Redis turns Redis into a multi-model database

Redis is launching another significant update not long after its last release. Both versions are meant to drive a broader strategy from the company to help Redis become more widely adopted by enterprises. The introduction of flash to be used as a RAM extender addresses the RAM cost issue and Redis Modules’ pluggable, prebuilt functionality allows Redis to function as a multi-model database. Both capabilities should help the company carry out this strategy. The Redis Modules create some options for Redis in terms of new use cases and scenarios – which is necessary for Redis to remain competitive in the multi-model NoSQL space.
